This is the dress I made for my Term Project in Knitwear Design. The main fabrics are Jersey knit in a Merino Wool/Silk blend yarn which I knit myself on a table top knitting machine, the fabric itself was also being graded for my knitting class.
The hem is bias cut satin, machine quilted, with polyester fiber fill inside for loft. There is spiral steel boning in the midriff sections. And although its hard to see, all the quilting and top stitching was done in a turquoise rayon thread to match the ribbon.
There are some things I might fix if I ever am to wear it, but otherwise I am super pleased with how it all came out, and I did get an A!
well knitting the fabric probably took a total of about 15 hours, but thats mostly because I was terrible with the knitting machines! Sewing the dress was very easy though and I got it done in a weekend!
If its anything like my mum's machine, I'm impressed you managed anything. When I tried to learn I spent far more time fixing and rethreading it than I did actually knitting.
Yup, same here, and the machines were at least 20 years old! I would get half way through a large piece of fabric and it would get a hole or a run! It was horrible!
